History
Founded in September 2020 in the height of the coronavirus pandemic.
Founded in September 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, DMV Does Good, Inc. (DDG) was born from a simple yet powerful belief: serving others—with our head, heart, and hands—should be at the center of community transformation. What started as a trunk-based pop-up giveback offering meals and clothing to 50 unhoused individuals has evolved into a bold regional movement.
Since that day, DDG has grown into a dynamic nonprofit that has served over 3,000 individuals and families across Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. Our mission is clear: to help end chronic poverty in the DMV region by addressing the critical and interconnected issues of food insecurity, homelessness, and economic instability.
Our Impact So Far:
- We’ve executed small, medium, and large-scale outreach events, ranging from street-level mobile aid to full-scale community distributions that have served hundreds in a single day.
- We’ve provided hot meals, fresh produce, clean clothing, essential toiletries, and over-the-counter medicines to those most in need.
- We’ve helped to furnish permanent housing for individuals who were formerly homeless—ensuring their new apartments feel like home with beds, kitchenware, and furniture.
- We’ve offered free showers to those living on the streets, restoring not only hygiene but dignity. And in a region where over 8,000 people experience homelessness nightly, and where 1 in 3 D.C.-area households with children struggles with food insecurity, our services have become a lifeline.
We don’t do this work alone. DDG partners with passionate community members, other grassroots nonprofits, and everyday citizens who believe in building a region where everyone has the resources to survive—and thrive.
But there’s still more to be done.
As we look to scale our reach and deepen our services, we invite you to stand with us. When you support DMV Does Good, you’re not just making a donation—you’re helping to rewrite the story for thousands of our neighbors in crisis.
Together, we can do more. Together, we can do good.
